Remaining PSL 6 matches likely to be held in May: sources

 KARACHI: As the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches must be delayed because of the spread of the Covid in the bio-secure air pocket, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is searching for a window to hold the leftover 20 matches. 

As per sources, May 2021 is the most probable chance to hold the excess matches, notwithstanding, it will be a test for the PCB due to the Indian Premier League (IPL), which closes in June. 

"PCB may choose a window in the second seven day stretch of May after the arrangement against Zimbabwe," a source said, adding that two different windows alternative could be September before New Zealand's visit to Pakistan or December. 

In the event that PCB selects May as the window, which – as indicated by sources – is almost certain, at that point groups may need to lose a few players to IPL. 

Chris Lynn, Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, Chris Gayle, Ben Cutting, David Miller, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb ur Rehman and Dan Christian are drafted to play in IPL also. 

In the event that such a situation occurs, the PCB would permit franchisees to pick substitution players. 

Another window that the PCB is attempting to investigate is September, before the appearance of the arrangement against New Zealand. 

PCB CEO Wasim Khan had before said that the board will cooperate with all partners to locate a reasonable window to coordinate the excess matches of PSL.
